Free Google AdSense Money Making Course – Lesson 6

Many Google AdSense users think that money is earned here only through YouTube. However, along with YouTube, you can also earn money from your website with Google AdSense. To be able to earn money from a website, first you must have a website. Having a site is not enough. At the same time, this site must be in compliance with Google AdSense policies. There are nuances to be considered to get a website approved in Google AdSense. In the lesson titled 10 golden rules of getting approval from AdSense for a website that I wrote about these nuances, I have given a detailed explanation. In this lesson, I will talk about the behaviors you should and should not do on the site both so that your website is not blocked by Google AdSense and so that your Google AdSense account is not blocked after the website receives approval.

How does Google AdSense evaluate site traffic?

Google AdSense gives very great importance to site traffic. From where the traffic of a website comes is strictly monitored by Google AdSense bots. Google increases advertising transparency in this way. I could say that Google AdSense bots do not like referred traffic at all. If a large part of a website’s traffic comes through links shared on social networks, Google AdSense measures this traffic as worthless traffic. There is a very consistent reason for this. Let’s suppose that you have a website and you share articles about clothing on this site. However, you draw traffic to the site from those groups by sharing the link of your articles in social network groups related to automobiles. Since the interests of the user coming to the site do not overlap with the articles written on your site, the user leaves the site quickly, the advertisements shown on that site do not suit the interest of that user, and thus advertisements are shown to irrelevant audiences. This causes advertisers’ money to be wasted. To improve the advertising results of advertisers and to be able to give more transparent results, Google AdSense gives more priority to the website traffic being organic.

Valuable website traffic for Google AdSense

What is valuable traffic for Google AdSense? Which traffic is considered more valuable by Google AdSense? These two questions are among the questions most asked by site owners. Google AdSense does not demand any extraordinary expectation in website traffic. It only wants the website to have organic traffic. When organic traffic is mentioned, I mean the following:

  • Traffic coming from queries of Google and other search systems
  • Traffic coming from image and video searches of Google and other search systems
  • Traffic coming from Google News
  • Traffic coming through Backlinks
  • Traffic coming by using the site domain directly (direct traffic)

Traffic coming from the directions shown in the list above is considered valuable traffic by Google AdSense. To be able to appear in these places and to increase website traffic with valuable traffic, you must perform correct SEO work on your website.

Increasing Google AdSense earnings with organic traffic

The more the traffic of a website comes from organic sources, the higher the value of the advertisements shown to users becomes. Because AdSense revenues essentially rely on user behaviors such as the showing and clicking of advertisements. For this reason, organic visitors we draw to our site cause more valuable advertisement views and clicks; this, as a result, creates the environment for our AdSense earnings to increase. I can explain this with the following example.

Suppose that you have a website where you share food recipes. When people search for “best chocolate cake recipe,” they find your site on Google and enter (that is, they come with organic traffic). Because these visitors are looking for a recipe, an advertisement for example “chocolate for cookies” shown on the site becomes interesting for them and they click on the advertisement. Because these people are truly interested in cooking and have come to the site with this interest. This click is counted as more valuable for AdSense and you obtain more earnings. If random and irrelevant people had come to your site, the advertisement would not be interesting to them and they would not perform any advertisement clicks, and thus you would have obtained no earnings at all.

If you draw traffic by sharing links, you will see very large decreases in your AdSense earnings. As I explained above, drawing traffic by sharing links on social networks will cause advertisements shown not to overlap with user interests. This will decrease the number of advertisement impressions and the number of clicks. Besides this, if you draw a large part of the site traffic from social networks by sharing links regularly, advertisement blockings and restrictions will be applied to your AdSense account. To not encounter such situations, you must give importance to your website’s traffic being organic.

ATTENTION: Your drawing traffic to the site by regularly sharing links on social networks, and not giving importance to advertisement blockings and restrictions, may lead to your AdSense account being blocked by Google. Remember that a person can have one AdSense account in their name. To not lose the account which is your only chance, I recommend you not to draw traffic to the site with deceptive texts and visuals in unnecessary groups.
