Free YouTube Monetization Course – Lesson 20
One of the biggest challenges for beginners on YouTube is deciding which equipment to use for video shooting. We should keep in mind that the majority of beginners start this work with a limited budget. Therefore, we should talk about using equipment that requires a minimum budget.
Camera Recommendations for Shooting YouTube Videos
Let’s talk about the camera first. Modern smartphones are being produced in such advanced versions every day that many of these smartphones can shoot even better than famous cameras. So, if you are just starting and do not have the budget to buy a new camera, you can start with your everyday smartphone. If you look at the first videos of popular channels on YouTube today, you will see that the video quality is very low. So you can set aside excuses like “the video quality is low” or “my phone doesn’t shoot well” and get started. If you intend to buy a camera, I can recommend the following cameras:
These cameras are not only affordable for beginners but also have the ability to shoot in 4K. Their interchangeable lenses and easy-to-use interface allow the user to adapt to the camera easily. By clicking once on the camera models below, you can go to their Amazon sales page and get more detailed information about the camera.
Microphone Recommendations for YouTube Videos
Apart from the camera, you will need a microphone. The sound recording of your phones may not work well, and viewers may not understand you. Therefore, try to have a microphone within the price range that your budget allows. When buying a microphone, make sure that the microphone you buy is for computer or phone use. If you will be shooting in open spaces rather than a studio environment, a microphone designed for phones will be suitable for you. Nowadays, Boya, Rode, DJI, and Blue Yeti brands are more commonly used. However, these brands have different models, and each model has its own unique features. First, decide what kind of videos you will shoot, then decide which microphone is suitable for the videos you want to shoot. You can find videos on YouTube about the sound quality and other features of microphones. Microphone review videos will help you in this work.
Computer Recommendations for YouTubers
As I mentioned at the beginning of the text, modern smartphones are being improved every day. Some smartphones can be used as much as a computer. You can manage your YouTube channel with a phone. However, at some point, you will need a computer. Therefore, I recommend buying a computer at a minimum price. The computer you buy can also be second-hand. Based on my personal experience, I can definitely tell you that what you can do with a computer is much more than what you can do with a smartphone. With a computer, you can edit your videos more comfortably, prepare your thumbnail images, and manage your YouTube channel. There are some functions in the YouTube Studio panel that can only be used with a computer. To be able to do all of these, I recommend buying a computer with at least the following specifications:
- RAM: 4 GB RAM
- Internal Storage: 128 GB
- Processor: Intel Core i3
- Operating System: Windows 10 or higher
Note: Not having a computer is not an obstacle, having one is an advantage.
Video Shooting
If you want to achieve good results in YouTube video shooting, you should learn video shooting techniques. There is no need to spend money on any course for this. There are detailed videos by professional videographers on YouTube. By watching these videos, you can learn which frame to shoot from which angle, how to do lighting, and other points you need to pay attention to.
In this lesson, you have learned the minimum equipment you can use for YouTube videos and the basic recommendations. Remember, the most important factor in creating a successful channel is not perfect equipment, but consistency and creativity. With the knowledge you gained today, you can now shoot your videos with a simple smartphone or a budget-friendly camera and develop your channel.
Now the next step is yours: put your ideas on paper, prepare a script, and start shooting your first video. Each new video will take you one step further in terms of experience and quality.
